My mother loves to read, she also likes to travel overseas on holidays. One of the problems she has is taking enough books for her to read when she's traveling and not adding too much weight to her luggage - my solution for her is going to be a Kindle.

Her children put some strawberries onto long skewers and dipped them into chocolate (they used milk chocolate on some and white chocolate on others) and then let them dry and arranged them in a vase for her......she still talks about that gift years later.
Photos are also very important to a mom, my sister in law's three sons had a professional photographer take their picture for her one year and I think that's the best gift she's ever recieved.
